The History
of Majorca
Palma Cathedral

Majorca and it's sister Islands have a full and vibrant history for those people who wish to delve beyond the sun and sand. From the Talayot culture which flourished for over a 1000 years before the Roman occupation right through to the commencement of mass Tourism in the 1950's.

Majorca was occupied by Britain in 1708. This lasted until a treaty in 1763 when Britain was obliged to hand the Island back to Spain. After a period of various occupations it finally returned to being part of Spain in 1808.

There are many fine Museums around the Island that will give you a flavour of that History.
